WHAT IS WEND

Dare to take the road less traveled

In the early stages of launching this site back in 2015, I spent days trying to find a title that embodied both my essence as a person and what I wanted this space to be – a source of travel inspiration and a resource to encourage readers like you to embark on their own adventures…to wend their way.

I scoured the web in search of potential titles, but everything was either taken, cliché or just didn’t feel quite right. After reaching a point of desperation, I Googled, words associated with travel. As I neared the end of the list, my finger landed on the word wend. Admittedly, I had to look up the definition. But when I read its meaning, wend: to follow one’s own pathI knew I had found it. That night, House of Wend was born.

For me, the word wend encompasses many things – passion for travel, remaining open to new experiences, independence, maintaining a wandering spirit, embracing life and all it has to offer and above all else, taking the road less traveled and daring to live a life that makes you happy rather than one that’s expected.

I strive to incorporate these principles into the choices I make and the trips that I take in order to live this life to the fullest. (You can read more about my story here.)

I invite you to follow along on my adventures as I navigate some of the most incredible cities in the world and share the many travel tips and stories I pick up along the way. Thanks so much for stopping by and happy wending!
