7 REASONS TO VISIT LAS VEGAS DURING THE HOLIDAYS

Las Vegas may not be a top destination for many travelers, but it certainly has its fans. Attracting millions of visitors each year, Sin City is no longer just a playground for adults looking to indulge their fantasies. This city has evolved over the years and now caters to families and visitors of all ages. There is plenty to see and do in Vegas year round, but the holidays might be one of the best times to escape to this party town. Below are 7 reasons to visit Las Vegas during the holidays.

1. REDUCED HOTEL RATES

With the exception of Halloween and New Year’s, the holidays are a great time to find shockingly low room rates at some of the top hotels. On my recent visit, we stayed at the Flamingo in a spacious king size suite with a partial view of the Strip within walking distance from all the main attractions.  And get this, it was only $27 a night! Keep in mind that most hotels charge a daily resort fee, but when you’re paying less than $30 for a room, you’ll barely notice!

2. ROOFTOP ICE RINK

The rooftop pool at the Cosmopolitan hotel is a popular attraction during the summer months, but the hotel manages to keep visitors entertained year round by transforming their pool into an open-air ice rink during the holidays. Lace up your skates and glide around the rink while taking in the excellent views of the Strip.  Afterwards be sure to treat yourself to a round of seasonal s’more martinis!

3. GREAT WEATHER

When you think of Las Vegas, scorching desert temperatures and day-long pool parties to escape the heat often come to mind. But throughout the holiday season, Vegas experiences some of its mildest weather. Sunny and 60’s during the day and low 40’s at night, you’ll definitely need a jacket, but you won’t be melting in the hot sun like you do throughout the summer!

4. FESTIVE DECORATIONS

Vegas is known for being over the top, but from November through December, this town spares no expense in an effort to put visitors and residents alike into the holiday spirit. You’ll find hundreds of elaborately decorated Christmas trees in all the hotels and shops along with holiday themed promenades such as Winter Parq at the Linq and Town Square. Expect to find street performers, live music and even snow…courtesy of the mounted snow machines!

The Bellagio hotel reigns supreme when it comes to festive decorations. Everyone is welcome to enjoy the Winter Conservatory & Botanical Gardens which glisten underneath the domed glass roof. And outside, passersby can feast their eyes on the extravagant water show. Arguably one of the most popular attractions in Vegas, this unique feature is a particular favorite during the holidays when the fountain display is choreographed to classic Christmas tunes!

5. SMALLER CROWDS

Don’t get me wrong, the streets, casinos, shops and clubs are always packed in Vegas, but during the holidays the town quiets down just a bit, making navigating Sin City a little more manageable and pleasant.

6. CELEBRITY APPERANCES

Celebrities venture to Vegas all year long to escape and indulge like the rest of us. Some even take up residences while headlining shows. During the holidays, and New Year’s in particular, expect to find some of the most current musical artists & entertainers hosting parties throughout the Strip. This year’s lineup includes Skrillex, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj and Snoop Dogg just to name a few. Here’s a rundown of all the parties and events planned for the biggest party weekend in Vegas.

7. DISCOUNTED EVENTS & SHOWS

Another reason to consider visiting Las Vegas during the holidays is the great deals and discounts to be had! The new High Rolller observatory, which happens to be the world’s tallest, offers holiday discounts allowing riders to enjoy the spectacular views of the Strip day or night. There are also several 2 for 1 deals available for a variety of popular attractions. Some hotels even provide guests with coupons upon check-in which can be used at several restaurants, shops and shows!

Although Vegas may not appeal to every type of traveler, there is certainly plenty of fun to be had in this town especially during the holidays!
