9 REASONS I’M OBSESSED WITH THE AMEX PLATINUM CARD!

American Express Platinum Benefits

First off, this post is #not sponsored. I have just had such a good experience with my Amex Platinum card that I wanted to share! If you’re curious about travel credit cards or have been considering signing up for one, hopefully you’ll find this post helpful.

I have had my card for just over 6 months and I LOVE it. It sounds corny, but it has truly changed the way I travel and improved the overall experience. It’s definitely not for everyone, but it does offer a ton of perks. Here are 9 reasons why I’m obsessed with the American Express Platinum.

1. Delta Sky Club Access! ($545-$845 value)

This is the primary reason why I signed up for the card. I strictly fly Delta and with the amount of time I spend at airports, it was just a no-brainer. I can now enjoy complimentary wifi, premium food and drinks while I’m waiting. It has totally transformed the travel experience!

2. Priority Pass Select Membership ($429 value)

I thought having access to Delta’s lounge was great until I realized my Amex also includes a Priority Pass Select membership, which means I have access to over 1200 exclusive airport lounges worldwide. Talk about a game changer! When I have a long delay or get stuck while abroad, I can just pop into the lounge and enjoy a nice meal and a cocktail and regroup. Some even offer napping rooms and showers. I can also bring in 2 guests for free. It’s seriously the best thing ever!

3. Airline credit ($200 value)

I use this to bring guests into the club with me, and to purchase premium food and cocktails. You could also use it to cover bag fees or seat upgrades!

4. Free Global entry ($100 value)

If you do any international travel and haven’t applied for global entry or TSA pre check, you’re missing out! With the AMEX platinum card, you can sign up for free! You’ll get reimbursed for one application fee once every 5 years.

Travel Tip: Global entry is $100 while TSA pre-check is $85. If you only fly domestic, TSA Pre-Check is the way to go. But Global Entry automatically includes TSA pre-check, so if you do any international travel it’s the better option between the two!

5. Uber credit ($200 value)

Another great perk is the $200 uber credit! I get $15 each month (and 35$ in December) to put towards my rides or Uber Eats. It’s awesome!

6. Saks credit ($100 value)

How does a $100 credit at Saks Fifth Avenue sound? Every 6 months I receive a $50 credit at the luxury department store. I use it to treat myself to a little gift or restock on beauty products and I love it!

7. Free Shop Runner Membership ($79 value)

With the AMEX Platinum you’ll automatically become a Shop Runner member, which means free shipping and free returns from over 100 retailers including Saks, Saks Off Fifth, White House Black Market, Urban Decay, SkinCeuticals, and tons more. I haven’t used this yet, but after reading the full list of stores included while researching for this post, I’m about to start!

8. Purchase & Return Protection

The Amex Platinum offers purchase protection for items that are lost or arrive damaged (this covers items totaling up to $10,000 and up to $50,000 per year).

And if you have second thoughts about a recent purchase, but the seller doesn’t offer refunds, the Amex Platinum will! Simply send the item to Amex and they will refund the purchase price (up to $300 per item and up to a max of $1000 per year). Yaas!

9. Global Dining Collection

You can also enjoy customized experiences when you dine at one of many world renown restaurants through Amex’s Global Dining Collection. This includes complimentary bottles of wine, specialty dessert and other luxury perks. Yum!

Again, this card is definitely not for everyone! If you’re not a frequent traveler, it may be hard to get the full value out of the card. Plus the $550 annual fee isn’t cheap. It’s also a charge card, not a credit card, so you’ll be required to pay off the balance each month.

BUT for regular flyers, this little piece of metal can do a LOT to improve your traveling experience! And with nearly $2,000 in perks, it kind of pays for itself. So far, I’ve had no regrets. It’s seriously one of the best things I’ve done for myself! To learn more about the benefits and terms, click here.
